Sorry, it seems to have been over a month now since I last gave an update! Well, not a whole lot has happened as it is term paper time! I spend my days at the library or cooped up in my flat reading and trying to stimulate my brain into coming up with something to write! That and procrastinating... it is amazing how things like cleaning and laundry start to seem like a good idea when the alternative is writing a paper. It has been a stressful few weeks that is for sure. I cannot wait for the feeling of handing the papers in and being done! One week to go! I still have a lot of work to do so I will keep this post brief.
Hiked Arthur's Seat one rainy Sunday afternoon for my friend Katarina's birthday. We celebrated with champagne and cake at the top!
I gave my brain a bit of a break and went to Portobello Beach, which is in Edinburgh, only a 20ish minute bus ride away from where I live. The sun was peaking out which apparently made it the perfect beach day and people were having picnics and what not. I found it a bit too chilly for it to be beach weather but a great place to clear my mind nonetheless.
Another Thanksgiving abroad has come and gone and as usual it was a sad day to be away from home. I got to skype in to the family gathering which was fun - able to get in on the pictures but the technology still lacks in the way of food transfer. I would have done anything for some pumpkin pie! I had a little Thanksgiving in Edinburgh with my flatmate and some girls from her programme which I really loved. Best meal I think all of us had had all semester!
Christmas has arrived in Edinburgh and it is quite a big deal here. Lights have gone up around the city and there was a fireworks display and parade for the lighting of the giant Norwegian Christmas tree. There is also a skating rink, a German Christmas market, rides, nativity scene, etc. in the city centre. I hope to finish my papers with a little time to spare so I can go check it all out!
I visited the Edinburgh Castle the other day, as it was free for St. Andrew's Day. It was a bit touristy but I guess you can't really live here and not go there at least once!
